Alagappa Institutions Alumni Singapore (AIAS) is a dynamic alumni network established in 2017 and officially inaugurated on 20 January 2018, presided over by then Minister for Education Ong Ye Kung.. Built on the strong legacy of Alagappa Institutions, AIAS serves as a vibrant platform that unites alumni and their families in Singapore.

AIAS is committed to fostering unity, cultural enrichment, and community engagement. Since its inception, the association has actively contributed to social initiatives and has been a proud participant in the annual Tamil Language Festival, promoting Tamil language and heritage.

A Visionary Philanthropist

We are inspired by the remarkable legacy of Dr. Alagappa Chettiar, a visionary entrepreneur, educationist, and philanthropist born on April 6, 1909, in Kottaiyur, Tamil Nadu. Renowned for his pioneering achievements in business and education, he transformed Karaikudi into a hub of academic excellence.

A distinguished scholar, he studied at Presidency College and later qualified as a Barrister in London. His entrepreneurial journey spanned textiles, plantations, aviation, and finance, earning him recognition as one of South India's greatest business leaders.

Driven by a deep commitment to education, he established and supported numerous institutions, including Alagappa College of Technology and several colleges in Karaikudi, shaping the future of thousands of students.

His contributions extended beyond business and education into social service, national development, and philanthropy. Honored with the Padma Bhushan in 1957, his legacy continues to inspire generations.
